Requirements

Core requirement

A registered installation of TARA 2503.1 or greater.

GIPS Desktop​

  • TARA and the GIPS add-on must be licensed. The add-on appears in your TARA license as the GIPS_HEATMAP option; if it is absent, GIPS Desktop reports that the license has expired.
  • The tara.dll file must be in the same directory as gips.exe or accessible on the system %PATH%, and it must be the one distributed with GIPS v4.0.0 or later. Earlier builds do not report the licensed-option list, and GIPS Desktop reads as unlicensed against one. The DLL shipped beside gips.exe is already correct.
  • Runs as a Windows application on your desktop. gips.exe is code-signed by PowerGEM, so Windows SmartScreen and application-allowlisting policies can verify the publisher rather than blocking an unknown executable.

GIPS Lite & Pro​

Lite and Pro are static web applications — any web server can host them, provided it is configured to serve the Cache-Control: no-cache and ETag response headers (at a minimum for index.html and WClusterTrLimSumJson.json). See the IT Guide.

Their users' browsers contact two external sites for map data: assets.maps4powergem.com, and server.arcgisonline.com when the basemap is set to Aerial. See External sites contacted.

Networks that cannot reach PowerGEM​

GIPS Desktop downloads its three map style files from assets.maps4powergem.com too. An installation whose network does not permit that can host its own copies and point GIPS at them through the Map sources administrator option — see Administrator Options.
